📢 PhD position in UK 🇬🇧
There is a fully funded EPSRC DLA PhD studentship (for UK Home students) starting October 2025, co-supervised by Truong Quang Dinh, James Marco.
This exciting project addresses real-world energy and safety challenges in the next generation of electric aviation by combining:
🔹 Hybrid Energy Storage Systems (HESS)
🔹 AI & Optimisation
🔹 Model Predictive Control (MPC)
🔹 Robust and adaptive system modelling
🎯 The goal: To design a resilient energy management system (EMS) that ensures performance, safety, and efficiency for urban air mobility.
The student will also have access to cutting-edge physical lab facilities at WMG to support real-time evaluation and experimental R&D.
✅ Who should apply?
Candidates from control, electrical/mechanical engineering, computer science, or energy systems backgrounds. Experience in AI, aerospace, electrification, or optimisation is desirable.
